Who is the strongest environmental force in Australia?

Together, we are!

We are more than half a million people who speak out for the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the places and wildlife we love.

We are proudly independent, non-partisan and funded by donations from our community.

The forces we are battling together are strong: climate damage, the extinction crisis, dodgy financing of fossil fuels and land-clearing, and even our own federal government.

But we are stronger. We are an unstoppable force.

Here are a few of the ways your actions have immense impact.

Together, we are protecting Australia's Renewable Energy Agency.

Since 2021, the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has successfully driven innovation in clean energy technologies.

But the agency’s remit was recently put under threat — once again — by the government’s attempts to get it to fund fossil fuel projects.

But, together, we didn’t let them!

Through successful campaigning, community group meetings with key politicians, (and some late-night calls to Parliament House), we saved ARENA again.

Protecting ARENA is just one part of our strategy to turn Australia into a clean energy superpower.

“We are going to export our sunshine to the world in the form of renewables, instead of coal and gas.”

“With your help, we’re going to move Australia from the third largest exporter of climate pollution to being a clean export superpower.”

Together, we are protecting threatened species.

We are expanding our Investigation Team, providing vital additional resources to reveal — and stop — the political corruption that’s allowing destruction of the homes of our most threatened species.

This work is only possible thanks to the support of the ACF community.

Together, we are protecting more critically endangered species such as the Eastern curlew and working to stop development in Ramsar wetlands like Toondah Harbour.

But that’s just one part of our bigger strategy to target the very systems and structures that are driving extinction.

We’re fixing broken systems, we’re not pottering around the edges. We’re changing the system so all rivers are protected, all forests are protected.”

Together, we are disrupting business as usual.

We are persuading leaders such as the Business Council of Australia and the Australian Council of Trade Unions to support climate action and advocate for strategies to harness the economic advantages of clean energy.

We are also changing how banks invest their money.

Banks invest in every industry in Australia, so by changing how banks think, you’re changing the system. ”

Kelly O’Shanassy, CEO

It's part of a big bold strategy to make our government act on climate change and extinction before it's too late.

“We can stop them investing in habitat destruction, extinction and fossil fuels, and instead invest in nature and clean energy.”

Together, we are shifting the power at the highest levels.

We have ambitious plans for the future.

Truly transformational plans which cut to the heart of the causes of environmental destruction, right down to how democracy works in our country.

Thank you.

Together, we’ll create a world where forests, rivers, people and wildlife thrive.
